Objective

To significantly improve the condition of the roadway by removing the existing deteriorated pavement and replacing it with new, structurally sound pavement. The storm sewer installation will lessen the frequency of flooding, since roadway drainage will no longer be connected to the combined sewer system.

Description

This project consists of the reconstruction of South Michigan Avenue from Madison Street to Jackson Street.  The project includes the installation of storm sewers. Selective water system and sanitary sewer system improvements are also included.

Justification

The Village's pavement management program has determined that the condition of the street has deteriorated to the point that pavement rehabilitation is needed within five years. The storm sewer will lessen the frequency of combined sewer surcharging. Sanitary sewer replacement will be determined by televising.
