Rain Barrel Program

The Village of Villa Park has offered reimbursement for rain barrels purchased by residents for use at residential properties within the Village. Rain barrels must meet a number of criteria to be eligible for this reimbursement:
- Eligibility is limited to single family homes in the Village.
- Reimbursement shall be subject to the funding approved by the Village Board as part of each year’s Capital Improvement Program.
- The applicant must have a Village utility account in good financial standing for the property where the rain barrel is installed.
- Tenants must provide written approval from the property owner or property manager for the installation of the rain barrel.
- The rain barrel must have at least a 50 gallon capacity, designed to capture rain from a gutter downspout, not require pumps and/or backflows, and are not homemade.
- Reimbursement shall be limited to the actual cost to purchase the rain barrel and shall be for not more than forty dollars ($40.00) per fiscal year.
- Rain barrels must be installed and be functional at the property before applying for the rebate. A site inspection may be conducted to verify installation and functionality including that the rain barrel be completely closed or screened to prevent mosquito breeding. If not approved at inspection, the applicant shall have 30 days to make corrections and reschedule an inspection.
- The rain barrel shall be owned and maintained by the property owner/tenant.
