Over the next several weeks, Nicor Gas will be constructing new gas mains and abandoning their old mains. Work will begin on Monday, January 21st, weather permitting. For location information, see the attached map.
Nicor will be moving their facilities so our Public Works crews have room to construct new sewers and water mains during the upcoming Phase 1 of the Washington Sewer Separation project. More information on the project can be found here: http://www.invillapark.com/810/Washington-Corridor-Sewer-Separation
The Washington Sewer Project will include construction of a new storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main at certain locations, and reconstruction of all streets within the project limits.
The purpose of this project is to separate storm water flow from sanitary waste water flow in our new system. This will reduce the frequency of excessive flows to the waste water treatment plant and improve the quality of water flowing to Salt Creek.
Public Works is currently planning to bid out the project this summer and begin construction in late summer 2019.
The project will be finished in spring 2020.
