The Economic Development Commission prepares and recommends to the Village Board procedures for the planning, execution, and implementation of business district plans, including plans for development of adjacent areas to provide for the housing, social and recreational needs of the business district.
The Economic Development Department serves as the centralized information source for all economic development activities within the village. The director develops and implements economic development programs and strategies, with the objective of assisting businesses in starting, expanding, locating, and relocating within the village.
The mission of the Villa Park Economic Development Commission is to enhance the existing Business Community, attract new business, and encourage development and redevelopment of commercial building sites to increase the Village’s tax base, improve the quality of life for its residents and serve as a conduit between the Business Community in Villa Park and Municipal Government.
Powers and duties include; acting as an agent for the village for the purposes of business district development and redevelopment, collecting information on opportunities for business and investment in the village, preparing pamphlets explaining opportunities, outlining village regulations relating to energy conservation and environmental protection, assisting the Village Board to expand the tax base, and assisting in plans to increase the opportunity for village residents to obtain local employment.
The seven members of the Economic Development Commission meet on the third Wednesday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. Their meeting place is on the second floor of Village Hall.
