Objective

To improve the condition of the roadway by means of selected pavement rehabilitation methods.

Description

The 2020 Street Improvement Project includes the improvements proposed in the rejected 2019 Street improvement Project. This project consists of the rehabilitation of various streets by means of selected pavement rehabilitation methods.

Justification

The Village’s pavement management program has determined that the condition of the streets has deteriorated to the point that pavement rehabilitation is needed. This project is to be partially funded by voter approved bond proceeds.

BIDDING INFORMATION

The Bidding Documents must be obtained electronically at www.questcdn.com for a non-refundable fee of thirty dollars ($30.00). The QuestCDN project number is 6988346. A “Not for Bid” hard copy of the documents will be on file for inspection at the office of the Village of Villa Park Public Works Department, 11 West Home Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois, 60181, when the project is advertised for bidding.

December 4, 2020Construction is substantially complete. The contractor is working on punch list items.
November 13, 2020Work is substantially complete at all locations. The contractor is in the processing of installing new street signs.
October 30, 2020Punch list work and parkway restoration still remain and are currently in progress. Weather permitting, the project is expected to reach final completion by the end of November.

October 9, 2020Work continued at all project locations this week. The new concrete pavement in several of the alleys was poured. Preliminary asphalt paving took place at multiple locations. Final asphalt surface paving is expected to be completed next week. The project is expected to reach substantial completion within the next two weeks.
October 2, 2020Pavement removal on Vermont Street is complete. Pavement patching and concrete work on Vermont are expected to be completed by the end of next week. Work on Park Boulevard is nearing a point that a preliminary layer of asphalt, or “binder course” should be completed next week. Concrete work on all alleys is also expected to be underway next week.
September 18, 2020Pavement removal and pavement patching are continuing on Vermont Street. Concrete curb and patches along the south side of Vermont have been completed. Work on Park Blvd. Is expected to resume next week.
September 11, 2020Pavement removal and pavement patching are continuing on Vermont Street.

August 28, 2020A temporary pavement patch was completed on Ardmore between Park and Highland this week.  Work is currently underway on Vermont Street.
August 14, 2020All underground utility work is now complete. Construction efforts are currently underway at all project locations. Sawcutting of pavement on Vermont Street is in progress.
July 24, 2020Construction efforts are underway on Park Boulevard and Park Alley. A connection to the existing storm sewer on Ardmore Avenue was made for the new storm sewer in Park Alley last week. A water shutdown in the Park Boulevard area is scheduled for next week to allow for the installation of new water valves and fire hydrants.
