Villa Park Chief of Police Robert Pavelchik announces that on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 neighborhoods throughout Villa Park are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “33rd Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out (NNO) is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Villa Park Police Department. Locally, the Villa Park NNO is sponsored by the Villa Park Target.
National Night Out is a year-long community building campaign designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
On Tuesday, August 2 between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Villa Park and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Villa Park will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, parades, visits from the police and local officials, flashlight walks, contests, youth activities and anti-crime rallies.
The Villa Park Police Department and Villa Park Target store would like to invite all Villa Park residents to our National Night Out event at the Iowa Community Center, 338 N. Iowa Ave. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will feature a D.J., face painting, food, beverages and other activities; Villa Park Police and Fire Department vehicles will be on display. Officials from the Police Department, Fire Department, the Village of Villa Park and the Villa Park Target store will be on hand to meet and greet our residents. The event will be provided free of charge to all Villa Park residents.
Let’s all join together on August 2 to give crime in Villa Park a big going away party!
