Village Manager's Message
I wanted to thank everyone associated with a very successful Independence Day Parade, especially Karen Roder and Post Commander "JB" Blankshain at the Villa Park VFW Post 2081. I know I enjoyed walking in the parade with Trustee Cari Alfano, President Nick Cuzzone, and Assistant Village Manager Suzanne McVey. The last part of the parade will be awarding the best entries at the Village Board Meeting on Monday, July 22nd. Safari Land, our Presenting Sponsor, has been invited to present the plaques.
The My VIlla Park app is live! On this app, you can sign up for Village communications, access online bill payments, and access agendas and minutes, but primarily it is designed to report customer service requests. If you see a down tree limb on a Village sidewalk or street, a pothole, or something else, you can report it to the Village including pictures. This app works on iPhone or Android and works hand in hand with the Village online reporting system found on our website. This service will allow us to provide even better customer service. Staff received two additional training sessions on the My Villa Park app and the Citizen Request Management software. There will be many opportunities to learn how to use the app including a training session at the library (time and date to be announced).
We took a major step forward on the EcoTerra project when the Board of Trustees authorized the President to enter into a Redevelopment Agreement amendment with Hawthorne Development Corporation. This will allow the developer of the multi-use project at Vermont and Ardmore to move forward to secure financing for their project. Completion of the project is guaranteed by January 2027 in the agreement.
The Village of Villa Park filed for, and was granted, a Temporary Restraining Order against Strat’s restaurant for holding car and motorcycle rallies. The order upholds the requirement of the Village as adopted by the Board of Trustees to obtain a Special Event Permit and pay for additional police service as needed. A violation of the order could be punished as contempt of court. Currently, the Village has found Strat’s liable in two separate instances of holding a rally without permits this year.
I hope you can make it to the Kiwanis Concert on Wednesday at the Ruggard Pavilion. This week is Rick Lindy and the Wild Ones.
